Sculptress Jo Ansell joined us in October, having already shown her organic designs as our guest last year. The flowing lines complement Gail’s seacapes beautifully, and her sculptures are at home either indoors or outdoors.

Jo says “My sculptures embody the feminine, her moods, sensuality, purity and charm. To capture the female and her “inner being” in her many emotive states has always been my inspiration and motivation”.

This specialist medium is truly a hands on process from start to finish. Not only does Jo carve her figures, using hand tools rather than electric, but she also makes the stone herself, using a variety of specialist sands, minerals, caen limestone and marble, then sanding them to finish. It’s this organic and meditative process, which gives them a sublime quality. Each piece is unique and hand carved.
